Two of the greatest gifts Jesus gave us for the journey of Christian life are the sacraments of Reconciliation and Communion.
“The Eucharist is ‘the source and summit of the Christian life’. The other sacraments, and indeed all ecclesiastical ministries and works of the apostolate, are bound up with the Eucharist and are oriented toward it. For in the blessed Eucharist is contained the whole spiritual good of the Church, namely Christ himself, our Pasch.” - The Sacrament of the Eucharist, CCC 1324
“Those who approach the sacrament of Penance obtain pardon from God’s mercy for the offense committed against him, and are, at the same time, reconciled with the Church which they have wounded by their sins and which by charity, by example, and by prayer labors for their conversion.” - The Sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation, CCC 1422
To prepare our students to receive these sacraments, we offer a two year program. 1st grade students are eligible to begin year one through formation in the school or in the parish. Students at OLL school will receive instruction in their classrooms and students enrolled in Faith Formation through the parish will receive instruction on Sundays from 10:15-11:15.
For 2nd grade students who have completed year one, they will receive their preparation in their 2nd grade class at the school or at the parish on Sundays during Faith Formation class. Students will receive their First Reconciliation on January 23 and their First Communion in May.
For students in 2nd grade and above who have not received their first year of preparation, please contact Ashley Ell, Director of Faith Formation, to begin the process to receive the first year of formation.Details for the 2026-2027 year will be posted as soon as they are updated.
